Introduction to JEJU, one of the Most Beautiful Islands in Northeast Asia!

Jeju Island is one of the most beautiful islands in North-East Asia located just under one hour by air from Seoul, the capital city of South Korea. Being of volcanic origin Jeju has 368 smaller peaks formed by craters of volcanic activities, with Mt. Halla (1950m) in the center of the island - it is an extinct volcano with a big crater on the top and lush vegetation growing down to the very seaside. The island is 73km from west to east and 31 km from north to south, with a coast line of approximately 254km.

How many people are living on the Island?

The population just grown over 6 hundred thousand last year (2013), and still growing. The recent growth of population in JEJU island is expected to continue, but the increase seems to be much concentrated on JEJU city, which is the nothern half of the island, while the rate is not as rapid on the other half. That is probably because most important facilities and economy's being invested on the closer from the main ports and the airport that are located more in JEJU area than SEOGUIPO, which is the southern half of the island. One of such reasons might be because of higher winds on the southern side of the island.
